Charity Consultants was founded in 1990 by Andrew Thomas. His expertise is supported by a network of specialists in specific fields.

We have access to in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience across the whole spectrum and will bring in expert consultants to deliver a holistic, pan-disciplinary service responding to your specific needs.

We are extremely open and honest and, while tactful, will always tell it as we see it.

Andrew Thomas
Founder & Chief Executive

Andrew has been helping NGOs, charities and not-for-profit organisations achieve their aims for over three decades.

 

Before starting Charity Consultants in 1990, Andrew worked at Save the Children, Oxfam, UNICEF UK, and IIED, co-ordinating appeals in Europe and USA. His final post was running a successful £40m appeal for the Prince’s Youth Business Trust which was matched by another £40m from the UK Government.

 

He is a founding member, and Fellow, of the Institute of Fundraising.

Helen Holman

Legacy Hub

Helen brings to the team 25 years' experience as a fundraising professional who spent a long time at NSPCC, whose focus is on building and retaining relationships; raising sustainable funding and facilitating development.

 

She has expertise in Stewardship, Community Fundraising, and Individual Giving having worked with both Corporate and Major Giving teams. But her passion and vast experience is in Legacies and Gifts in Wills.

 

She sees Legacy Fundraising as transformative, offering wonderful insights into donor motivations and providing the highest return on investment in fundraising. She thrives on the diversity that the fundraising world brings and the unique challenges and opportunities each cause presents.

Tim Brawn
Major Donor Hub

Tim is a highly motivated, entrepreneurial and experienced fundraising specialist with over 25 years’ business leadership experience at the highest levels.

 

With a career in Fundraising, Communications and Marketing, he has worked extensively in the not for profit sector as well as running commercial operations. Highly experienced at major donor fundraising-with proven success, and at leading and developing teams.

 

He has worked at the National Trust, Salvation Army and Combat Stress. 

Kerry Rock

Research Hub

Kerry has over 25 years’ experience in research, policy and management from across the not for profit, commercial and government sectors.

 

She has honed her fundraising and prospect research skills over the last 16 years in the UK. As well as skills in research design and implementation, Kerry also has specialist skills in using research for performance monitoring and the development and measurement of Key Performance Indicators.

 

Kerry also leads on Prospecting for Gold’s data protection work. Kerry holds degrees in Arts and Commerce from the University of Melbourne. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and the Market Research Society.

 

She is President of the UK Branch of the University of Melbourne Alumni Association, is a trustee of Cure Parkinson’s, chairing the Board’s Marketing and Fundraising Committee and on the Committee for the Consultants Special Interest Group of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

Sue Thorn

Sue is an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of success working in the voluntary sector for over 25 years.

 

She has worked in senior fundraising positions at Home-Start UK, Birmingham Women's Hospital and MND Association.

 

Sue's focus is on 'stepping in' during times of change or long term-development, overseeing restructures and change in strategic direction or mission.
